IT’S BEEN a long time in the offing – but it had to be done. I’m publicly shaming irresponsible Sidlesham Parish Cllr Tricia Tull for decrying the Speedwatch campaign targeted at inconsiderate – and darn right disrespectful – drivers who race through villages.
If you read my Facebook comment on the police’s post about the Speedwatch scheme embedded below, you’ll discover that Cllr Tull likens manning speed guns at the side of our B2145 on the Manhood Peninsula to “spying on your neighbours”.
And if you watch my WordPress blog posts on Sidlesham Parish Council (SPC) meetings, you’ll see her repeatedly tell her fellow councillors that “it’s locals who speed, you know.”
I’m not about to repeat my Facebook message below, but I suggested Cllr Tull meet the family of the car crash victim who suffered life-changing injuries on the B2145 near Chichester Golf Club a few years back to convey those words to them.
On a change of tack, I’m also posting this WordPress blog today to introduce you to my new Visit My Facebook Pages section.
If you click on to this page on my website, you’ll be able to discover what I’ve been up to on social media at the Meta site.
In short, I’m currently running three Facebook pages, namely My Local Reporting Commentary, the news-feed Manhood Peninsula Matters group and my gardening page A Year In My Back Garden.
Of course, by now you must realise that I’m on a mission to help revive local journalism after it was hijacked by Big Business.
Now, love journalists or hate them, – if truth be told – honest, hard-working local news reporters, and correspondents, play a valuable role in our communities upholding democracy.
Naturally, I don’t expect you, the reader, to comprehend the trials and tribulations local journalists face serving the public by covering those stories some people might prefer were kept under wraps.
Suffice to say, my hair is very grey now after returning to the fray as a freelance journalist reporting on two local parish councils.
I’m going to stop writing now to give you a breather to take time to read my latest WordPress posts and delve through my archives.
Feel free to visit my Facebook and LinkedIn pages to read about local parish council news and remember folks, our local councillors are there to SERVE you the council tax-paying PUBLIC.
